Michael L. Arvanitis, M.D., has been an attending colon and rectal surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center since 1988 and served as Assistant Program Director of Surgery from 1991 to 1998. Dr. Arvanitis is the director of the Patricia Burton High Risk Colorectal Cancer Program at the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth focusing on the treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Monmouth’s teaching affiliate, Drexel University School of Medicine. Dr. Arvanitis is a member of many organizations including being both a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and served as President of the New Jersey Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons from 1994 to 1996. He also is a member of the New Jersey Society of Surgeons.
